My fabulous 3 days of weekend!

What a great weekend it was!  Too bad it had to end...Monday, you are just not fun for me!  LOL!
Friday night started out at the tractor pull in Cumberland.  Dale pulled his 'new' tractor (only the second time he's pulled it).  Guess what?  He got a 1st place out of 13 tractors.  Whoo Hoo!  Here are a couple of pictures of that for your enjoyment...too bad I didn't have video for you, too - you know I can only do so much at once...I can't take pictures and videos at the same time!
Dale's buddy weighted it up and pulled it in the heavy class.  Guess what?  It took 1st place again!  Gotta love that!  The plan is to get it painted up and looking pretty this winter.  I'm sure I'll have more pictures to show you at that time :)
Then Saturday we were off to a wedding.  It was one of the most beautiful weddings I have been to.  We know the bride and the groom and both their families.  It was a bittersweet day.  They were so sweet to include our son as an honorary groomsman.  Almost 2 years later and Dusty has not forgotten his friend!  We are so blessed!

Here are a couple of pictures of us "all spiffed up" on Saturday.  The first one is of me and Dale along with my sister, her husband and her girls.
Then I needed a picture of us with the girls, one of just us, and one of my sister and her family.  (I have scrapbook pages to make, you know!)
Sunday came and we enjoyed the beautiful sunshine-y day by going for a motorcycle ride.  We really love to ride our bikes, but just don't have enough time in the summer to fit in all of the things we love to do!  Where is that 'time' store so I can buy more of it??  If anyone knows, please fill me in, too!

I know I need to get to my craft room to get creating, I think I am going through withdrawls!  That is my plan for this week, we'll see how that goes!

1 Simple but Yummy recipe

Today I have a very simple but yummy recipe for you.   Cowboy Caviar!  This is the treat I brought with to our team meeting last Saturday.  Everyone loved it!  It is almost so easy to make that I hate to even put the recipe on here...I said almost!

This is one of those recipes that I will post, but there are so many different ways to change it up to suit your tastes.  Here is the basic recipe:
Cowboy Caviar

1 can black beans
1 can black-eyed peas
1 can white shoepeg corn
5-6 Roma tomatoes, chopped
1 green pepper, chopped
1 small onion, chopped
1 can diced chilies
1 cup Italian Dressing

Drain and rinse the beans and peas. Mix all ingredients together and enjoy!

See, what did I tell you?  Easy!  Now, if you don't want to dice up those tomatoes, you can use the canned variety.  I added an orange pepper to mine and I have also added diced avacado.  If you like a little more zip, add jalapeno peppers to the mix.  You can also add chopped cilantro and maybe a little garlic salt.  If your store doesn't carry the white shoepeg corn, I have also just used a couple of cups of frozen corn.  It's always good using green onions, too.

I could go on forever about the ways you can change it up, but I think you get the idea.  This is one of those recipes that could be different each and every time you make it!  It is best, though, to leave it sit for about an hour or so before you  plan to eat it.  This is because the black beans will soak up the flavors and it just plain tastes better.  If you are just really craving it, then by all means, eat it right away!

2 new art projects with a sneak peek!

Last Saturday we had our awesome team meeting *and if anyone is interested in signing up to be a consultant and joining my team, just let me know as I would love to have you*

Part of the fun of the day was that it was a theme party.  We were to be groovy and dress up like the 60's.  What a fun time that was.  Here I am in my 60's dress (a little short for my tastes, but it was fun!)  Too bad the go go boots didn't fit!  (So sorry for the poor quality picture-it was from my phone and it really isn't good, but you get the idea!)
You are laughing with me and not at me, right??

Then in the afternoon we were creating.  I used the brand new Mistletoe papers for both of my projects.  It will be available to my customers beginning on September 1st.  If you need your new idea book, just let me know and I will get it to you!

Here is the paper bag purse that we created...so simple to make!  Thanks for showing us how, Sheri!
We also learned how to make this adorable file folder album.  It was also pretty easy to do-thanks to the great instructions from Rachel.
Open it up and you have lots of 'pages' to flip up...room for lots of photos (plus you can customize it to fit your needs!)
I love creating, especially when in the company of such good friends!

My new ride...

Boy, talk about busy...I know, I know, we are all busy, but as I get older, it seems the time flies by even faster than before!  Anyone else ever feel like that??

Today, since I had to run to the store (in the town about 30 miles away) to get some baler twine for my husband (and then they were out so he didn't get it anyway), I did a little shopping for myself, too!  I have been walking at least 3 miles a day and doing Zumba twice a week, but have wanted to get a bicycle to mix up my exercise routine a bit.  We had an old 10 speed here in the shed, but if I am actually going to RIDE the bike and use it on a regular basis, I need to have something that I really like!

Here is the new Schwinn I got today.  Green is my favorite color (at least it has been lately) so this one just jumped out at me.  I even rode for about 6 miles today.  Hopefully my butt and my legs won't be too sore tomorrow!  LOL!
Considering this is the bike I usually ride, this one should give me a much better workout!
I have some great artwork I created yesterday at out team meeting.  I will try to get pictures taken in the morning and show you...stay tuned!

A Something Splendid layout for you

Here is a layout I made using the August Stamp of the Month, Something Splendid.  I do not have photos on it yet, but thought you might like to see it as is anyway.  I hopoe you like it.
Remember, you only have until the end of the month to get your hands on this wonderful stamp set if you want it.  After that, it will be gone for good (well, it is possible that it could come out in a future idea book, but we never know that for sure).

Something Splendid

Here is some of my artwork using the August Stamp of the Month, Something Splendid.  If you love this stamp set as much as I do and can't wait to get your hands on it, just let me know.  It is only available during the month of August.  Feel free to visit my website for more detail, or click on the Stamp of the Month link at the top of my blog.

I got this cool technique from my Great-Grandma Upline, Tina.  You can see her instructions here.  I love the way it turned out!
Now just look at the same design using different colors and papers.  Isn't it amazing how different it looks?  You can choose to leave it as is...
or, look at how much different it looks when you step it up a notch.  Either way is good, it just depends on your preferences.  Remember, when creating, there is no wrong way!
This is the card we will be creating at the party I am doing tomorrow night.  If you and your friends would like to get together for a party of your own to create something such as this, just let me know and we can make it happen!  Oh, did I mention all the FREE STUFF a hostess can earn?  It could be you...

Car Launch Photos

Oh my gosh!  What a great time we had yesterday at the Car Launch!  Good times with great friends!  It was truly an inexpensive and fun day!  Here are just a few pictures from the event.  Now just remember, this is a bunch of Wisconsin hicks just out to have a good time.

Yep, they started the day launching a school bus...

Then one of the crowd favorites was the chicken mini van...

They proceeded to launch all sorts of different vehicles...
Just look at the carnage...
The grand finale of the day was the semi tractor...
These will make for some awesome scrapbook pages for sure!

Maybe next year you can make plans to join me there-we have plenty of room at our house if you want to stay...

Blog Candy Winner! and an AWESOME SALE!!

We have a blog candy winner!  Her name is Kimberly and here is what she had to say:
Kimberly said...
Tammy, I have to tell you that this post makes my heart happy! We arrived in DC several days early as part of our family vacation. One day we were on the tour bus and I knew there were people getting on the bus, but was not really paying attention to the action around me. There were several teenage kids sitting around us who did not even flinch when two elderly women got on and stood because there were no seats. My two young daughters and husband immediately hopped up to offer their seats. This was a RAK that made be so proud and the two women were grateful. Thanks for helping remember this event!

Kimberly, if you send me your snail mail address, one of these little recipe boxes will be on it's way to you in a jiffy!
In case you have forgotten, here is the blog post that talked about the Random Acts of Kindness that prompted me to give away some blog candy.

2, 4, 6, 8, Who do we appreciate?  It's YOU, of course!  We are shouting from the rooftops how much we love and appreciate you!  It only makes sense to pass along our appreciation with amazing deals.
So for 8 days, August 4 through August 11 (while supplies last), you can purchase select My Stickease Assortments for only $2, My Reflections Level 1 kits for only $4, and My Reflections Level 2 paper packets for only $6 online.  Visit my website today to see these amazing deals for yourself.  You'll want to shout for joy, too!

Now a personal note, if you can find it in your hearts to say a little prayer for my father-in-law.  He is going in for surgery in the morning to get a heart valve replaced.  I will be praying for him and hoping all works out well.
