Passing the torch

Today I have to get to pass the torch on to a very talented gal.  Won't you join me in welcoming her?  She is another scrapbooking friend of mine that amazes me with her work.  She is also stepping outside her box in doing this, but I have not a doubt in the world that she will to fabulous.  Her name is Katie Kahl.  You can find her at Katie's Scrappy Place.
Yesterday I got a ton of stuff put away and organized in the new house and today is looking to be another busy day.  My hutch is getting delivered along with new appliances.  Then I'm heading North with my sister and her family for Easter with Mom and her husband.

Every day is another adventure.  I have had new carpet installed, a new windshield put in my Tahoe, and plumbers and carpenters in and out the door.  It's no wonder I haven't had a lot of time for blogging.  That will all change once I am settled in, I promise.  I already have a project in the works and plan to have them in the mail maybe next week.

Amber Ink Tour of Duty is almost over

I can hardly believe that my month long Guest Design Team Tour of Duty is almost up at Amber Ink!  It has been so much fun and really has made me step outside my box and try some new things.  That's always a good thing, right?
Here is a recap of the projects I created this month using the uber cool Amber Ink products.  I have had such fun.  Stay tuned tomorrow as I pass the torch on to another amazing artist.  I can't spill the beans yet, but tomorrow I will let you know who she is...some of you may even know her ;)

Amber Ink's Project #4 - Sisterhood Challenge

Today's artwork is my 4th Amber Ink project.  It is also a Sisterhood Challenge (using an Easter theme).  I loved these little bunnies from Amber Ink...and then the coordinating paper...what more could I ask for.  I also thought my Close To My Heart papers and embellies matched perfectly!  What do you think?
Now, I also need to shout out to my wonderful niece, Mackinzie.  It is her 12th birthday today!  I hope you have a birthday as great as you are, Kinzie!
This photo is from last Sunday.  It was my niece Sami's Confirmation day.  She is the one on the far right and the birthday girl is on the far left.  Dad, Mom and Kiana are also in the picture.  Aren't they a great looking family...poor Kevin is the only boy, but he handles it quite well :)  Congratulations, Sam, so proud of you!  God Bless!

So sorry for the lack of posting lately, but really, I do have a good excuse...no really, I do!  I promise!  I am in the process of moving.  I am typing this from the new house, as we 'speak'.  Right now, everything is pretty confusing as some stuff is here and some stuff is there.  Hopefully this won't last too long, as I hate this 'in between' stage.  Once I'm settled in, you are all invited over to help me break the place in :)

Amber Ink Friends layout

Today's layout is brought to you using Amber Ink's Plaid Earthy Tartan digi paper and their Flag Banner/border digi stamp.  I know it is not "Spring-like" at all, but I came across this picture of me with my friend and downline Kris and then I saw this paper of Amber Ink's and the rest, as they say, is history!
I absolutely love this layout - but, these colors are some of my all-time favorites!  Notice how well the Close To My Heart papers, paper flowers, and brads match with the Amber Ink stuff?  I love that you can mix and match it all together!

I have a wonderful weekend ahead of me...I get to go to a beautiful scrapbook retreat house with some girlfriends for a fabulously fun scrappin' time!  I will have to share a few photos when I return!

Amber Ink Project #3

Well, today is April 1st and it is supposed to be Spring...and I wake up to snow on the ground again!  Arrgghh!  I am so ready for Spring to be here!  That is probably the reason for the card I came up with for today's 3rd Amber Ink project.
I really, really am ready for Spring and a fresh start!

My 2nd Amber Ink Project

and it's also an Etsy Inspired Challenge.  Whew!  This is not only my first time being a guest designer, but it was also my first Challenge.  I have not done any of them before.  Talk about stepping outside my box!  It was fun and I encourage you all to give them a try.   I know I will be doing more challenges before my time as a torchbearer is up.  Maybe if you decide to try out the challenges I am involved in, send me a pic of your project and I'll post it right here on my blog...how's that for ya?

OK, here was the challenge.  We were to go to the Etsy Inspired Challenge blog and follow their guidelines.  This was the piece of artwork that inspired me and it wasn't even much of a challenge for me (maybe I shouldn't talk so big...the next one might really be tough!?!)
This little card just popped right into my head - it was sort of like a light bulb being turned on instantly :)  I had seen this iPaper from Amber Ink and the flower stamp,  I just happened to have coordinating Close To My Heart paper, ink, ribbon, buttons, etc. and I had a flower idea.  I love how it all goes together.
Open my card up and it has a fun fold to it creating a little pocket for you to write on.  I thought this digi stamp from Amber Ink was also pretty fun!  You can check them all out right here.
If you follow Amber's blog, you can check up on my fellow torchbearer to see what they've come up with, too.  Talk about a lot of creating going on...

I hope you've enjoyed my first challenge.  Now go create and send me what you made.  You could be featured right here on my blog!

ps - I am really trying to decide on this name for my craft space.  I have I narrowed down to 5 or 6 of them.  I might just have to put them out here and have you vote on them...If I don't make a decision by the end of the weekend, that's what I will do!  Thanks for all your help!

Banana Split Pie

I am so excited!  I will carry the torch proudly - the Amber Ink Guest Designer torch, that is!  Want to meet the rest of the "Babes" carrying torches with me?  Then stop on over at Amber's blog to see what cuties we are!  She said I'm from Turtle Island instead of Turtle Lake, but other than that, she is right on target - maybe we should re-name my town...I like the sound of an island :)
Today is the day I get to post my very first project using Amber Ink products.  Just look at the recipe card and "Little Things" digi stamps that just went along with my recipe.  I even popped up the banana and the whipped cream/cherries to make them pop.  I also used some of their paper, although you really can't see a whole lot of it behind the recipe card.  The front side of the card is the ingredients and then flip it over for the instructions.  Not only is it an easy recipe, it's an easy card to make!
I had made this dessert for my club girls on Sunday.  It is so light and refreshing.  Can you tell I am ready for Spring to be here?  Remember, you can always click on the photos to see them up close and personal (and if you need to be able to read the recipe better).

I get to carry the torch

for Amber Ink, that is!  Imagine my surprise when I returned home from my trip to Mexico to find several emails from my new friends over at Amber Ink requesting a reply to their invitation to join their Design Team for the next month.  Wow!  My very first Design Team (can you tell I am excited?)  My friend Jen Lee had nominated me...now if you know Jen, that is awesome in itself because she is an AMAZING artist herself!
Well, that very night that I returned home from vacation, I had to do a little research to find out if this was even something I was capable of!  I am always up for a challenge, but I do not want to disappoint, either.  As you can see, I did accept.  The problem was that I was sworn to secrecy until today.  I couldn't tell anyone - and if you know me, you know its awful hard for me to keep my mouth shut about anything :)

Tomorrow you will get to see my very first project using the Amber Ink products.  Make sure you stop back to see what I have created - I am really stepping outside my box here, everyone.  I will be using digi paper and stamps for the first time in my life!  I am excited to try something new.
