Flower Pot artwork

I finally got a chance to go downstairs to create a little bit yesterday.  I went down with the intention of designing a card to be used for Ronda's upcoming party.  I used the April Stamp of the Month, Flower Pot and some of the Veranda papers.  I think it turned out pretty cute!
I also paper pieced the flower pot on this card and then popped it up with 3D foam tape.  I colored the flowers using our markers and then I added some brads in the flower centers.  It needed another little something, so I wrapped hemp around the card a couple of times and added a button.  Now it looks complete!
Contact me (or click on the link in the column on the left) to get your hands on this cute stamp set.  It is one you don't want to miss!

Our Easter Celebration

Did everyone have a great Easter?  We sure had a good day with family.  It was especially good because our niece that lives in Texas was home for a weekend visit.  It's always good to see her again and this year she brought some Texas treats for us...

First of all, she brought along 6 dozen Easter eggs for the girls to find (her nieces, our great-nieces). What a beautiful day outside for the girls to be able to hunt for eggs.  This is Olivia hunting for eggs.
Now these were not just ordinary eggs (although they looked like it!)  It's a good thing it was a nice day outside because these eggs were all filled with confetti.  The girls (and the big boys-my husband and his brother) really got into breaking these over everyone's heads.  Here is Morgan breaking an egg over Erica's head.
Here is Morgan covered with confetti.  There was not a one of us that wasn't confetti covered by the end of the afternoon!
The other treat Erica fixed for us was stuffed jalapeno peppers.  Now if you know me, you know that I am a baby when it comes to hot/spicy foods.  It was hesitant to try them, but Erica assured me that they aren't hot.  Guess what?  They were wonderful!  She even had to bring along this tray to make them in.  Isn't that great?  Here is her recipe for making them (although, I don't quite know how you would stand them up without the tray?? maybe mini muffin pans??)  She also said they are really good when made on the grill.

Stuffed Jalapeno Peppers

Cut tops off of peppers and scoop out insides.

Fry up about 1 pound of breakfast sausage and mix with 1 package of cream cheese.

Stuff mixture into peppers and top with a slice of bacon (use toothpicks to hold them together).

Bake at 350 for about 30 minutes or until bacon is done.

Enjoy!

How was that for an easy recipe?  I will have to try this out sometime.  Erica assured me that it really is that easy!  Let me know if you try them out and what you think.

Wall Art

Remember that stairway/hallway I was painting and repainting this winter?  If not, here is the post that talked about that.  Well, I finally got around to getting the wall art done for it.  I love the way they turned out.

When the Spring Idea Book came out and I saw the Veranda paper on the front cover, I just knew I would be making something with that for my stairway as the juniper color matches my carpet perfectly.  I really love when CTMH knows what I am working on at home and comes up with papers that match for me!!  :)
I just bought some cheap-o canvases from Bargain Bill's (our local liquidator store) and altered them.  I painted the edges with the same paint that I put on the walls, covered it with cocoa cardstock and the juniper paper from the Veranda collection.  I sponged dimensional elements letters with ink, colored some paper flowers with re-inker (see this post for instructions), added some coordinating ribbon, and attached some buttons threaded with waxy flax.  Simple!  I love to make something out of nothing!
You, too, can create one-of-a-kind artwork for you walls.  Just ask me for ideas and I can help you get started.

Picture Keeper

Today's post is going to tell you all about backing up your photos.  Are you like me...take tons of pictures and download them to your computer?  I do that very well-I even get them off my camera in a timely manner-I have to so I can keep sharing pictures with you :)  The problem I have is backing them up.  I have even purchased a little external hard drive to save them on (waaaaayyyyy too many to burn them on cd's).  The problem with that is that every time I go to back up, I can't remember what is already on there and what isn't.  It is also a pain in the "you know what!"  OK, maybe I am just lazy, but I don't think I am alone in this one (be honest here...)

I came across this amazing new product (well, new to me anyway).  It is just a little jump drive (ok, the one I purchased is much bigger, but I truly have TONS of photos on my computer!)  It is the easiest to use that I have ever found!  I can't say enough about it!  Just plug it in, it will scan your computer for all your pictures, and then it will save them for you.  You can also sign up for a reminder email and they will remind you about once per month that it's time to back-up your pictures again.  How easy is that.  The really cool part is that the next time you plug it in, it will only scan for new pictures on your computer.  Amazing!

Another cool thing, is that when you go to their website they even have a little thing set up on there so you can figure out which one of their products you need to purchase (it will figure out how much space your pictures are taking up on your computer and tell you which size you will need.)  Simple.

OK, enough of that commercial!  I really just wanted to share a simple new product that I found that will make my life so much easier!

April Fool's

I really don't have an April Fool's joke to pull on you, but I do have some amazing artwork from my friend Sheri to share with you.
She has used the new April Stamp of the Month on her layouts and all her cards.  Just look at how great it looks.  This stamp set comes at a perfect time as we are preparing for Spring!
Look at this awesome card-she popped the flower pots up with 3D foam tape-and I love the Sorbet color...makes me think of terracotta pots.
This card has a tag that pulls out.
Contact me (or click on the link over in the left column) to get your set ordered.  Remember, it is only available during the month of April-and that's no joke :)

A Graduation Card

Graduation is just around the corner, and I have a feeling we will be invited to quite a few this year (our Rhonda would have been in this year's Graduation Class). I figured I had better get a jump on getting some cards made. This one is a design I have used before, but I freshened it up using the back side of our Veranda papers. It works out so well for me since our school colors are Maroon and Gold. What an easy pattern right out of the Originals how-to card book.Remember, today is the last day for you to take advantage of the March Stamp of the Month, "A Little Everything." Drop me a note or give me a call if you want to get one of your own. It is a must-have for any card maker! You can shop online and get it right away (while you are still in your jammies) by clicking on the picture of the Spring Idea book in the column to your left. That will take you right into the shopping area of my website.
