Girlfriends Frame

Remember when I said that I was hoping to get downstairs and get creative yesterday?  Well, it finally happened last night.  I started on this little project and didn't quit until it was done :)

My friend Holly had posted a frame she made-over on facebook and she really inspired me!  I had a frame sitting here that would work perfect for this project.  I also had photos in mind to use in it.

The frame is a cheapy that just caught my eye (I can't remember if it was at Bargain Bill's or the Dollar Store, though).  I see unique frames and buy them to use for projects at a later time.  So when I had this inspiration, I already had the perfect frame in mind.  The only thing I bought were these cute little clothespins (found them at Archiver's...they just jumped out at me, so it was my tiny purchase for the day!)
Isn't it just adorable?  Banners are all the rage right now, so I thought I'd use them in my frame.  It's hard to tell, but the banners are popped up off the frame.  I used photo hangers to tie my hemp to, and then hang the banners from the hemp using those mini clothespins.  Of course, I thought I had the pennant alphabet stamp set, and discovered that I didn't.  I could have just waited to borrow it from one of my friends, but if you know me, once I start something, I have no patience and I want to get it done.  I improvised and made my own banner alpha!  Easy peasy :)

Rosa Mexicano's

What a day it was yesterday with my friend, Lynn.  We started out the day having lunch at Rosa Mexicano's in downtown Minneapolis.  We had eaten at Rosa's a couple years back when we were in Washington DC and now that one was opened closer to home, we figured we just 'had' to go try it out.

See, there is quite the story behind that whole thing.  When we first went there, everyone was raving about how good the guacamole was - and they come table-side to make it right in front of you.  Well, the girls all wanted to order it.  That was fine with me, I figured I'd just eat those yummy chips with salsa instead since I didn't like guacamole (now remember, the only guac I'd ever had was the pasty stuff you can buy in a store).  Well, fast forward to when it was sitting right in front of me and I gave it a taste...I LOVED it!  Now the joke is that I've loved it my whole life!

So, off we went yesterday to Rosa's and the guacamole.  It was fabulous :)  The only downside to the place is that the setting just didn't do it for me.  It was far too upscale for a Mexican joint (at least for my tastes).  It did, however, fit right in with the Minneapolis setting.  Here are a few pictures from our fun adventure yesterday...from making the guacamole at our table to our pomegranate margarita and sangria drinks, to paying the bill.
We also did a little shopping and I can home with only a tiny little package of goodies to create with.  Hopefully I find some time this weekend to create what I have floating in my head to be able to show you :)

Artist Priinter's Tray

On a recent day out with my friend Lynn, we found ourselves at the Mall of America.  Of course, while there, we had to stop in at Archiver's.  While there, I purchased (among other things) an Artist Printer's Tray.  I had grand ideas floating in my head of what to do with it (actually, I bought 2 different ones, but will have to wait to show you the other one once I get it completed.  Gotta wait for some more photos to finish that one.)

I happened to have all these engagement photos of my niece and her fiance since I will be creating the guest book for their wedding.  I found a great use for just a few of those photos in this tray.  I think it turned out great and can't wait to give it to them as a shower gift.
Hopefully you can see the depth and detail.
Well, did I do it justice?  I impressed myself with this creation - especially since I did it all on my own and had nothing to scrap-lift from!  I only hope the one I make for myself turns out half as great (NO, it will not have engagement photos in it, either!  LOL!)

I am off for another fun filled day with Lynn today, I wonder what finds I'll come up with this time...

Recipe cards

Here are some recent recipe cards I made for a swap I'm in with some of my fun friends.

They are actually recipes that I have shared with you before, but the cards are kind of cute, so I thought I would share them with you, too!

The first is for my Rhubarb Slush - click here for the recipe - or as always, you can click on the photo to view it larger.
The next is for my Baked Caramel French Toast - recipe can be found here.

Would you and your friends like to get together to put together a recipe album of your own.  contact me for the details, as we can set up a fun party to create one.

Dotty for You artwork

So, for those of you that do follow my blog, I truly apologize for being absent for so long.  I truly do have a lot of things to post, but I have been out having a lot of fun lately with a new person in my life and this blog has just been put on the back burner.  I will try very hard to change all that for you.  I really do enjoy posting and have missed it!  Welcome back everyone :)

Now, yesterday I posted about the wonderful new Dotty for You special that Close To My Heart has for us all this month.  Here is a card I made using it.  My nieces were the recipients of these little dandies that I found on Pinterest.  Check me out there, too, if you would like.  Just click on the link on the left to take you there.
It is a box within a card.  How cute is that?!?
