A Graduation Card

Graduation is just around the corner, and I have a feeling we will be invited to quite a few this year (our Rhonda would have been in this year's Graduation Class). I figured I had better get a jump on getting some cards made. This one is a design I have used before, but I freshened it up using the back side of our Veranda papers. It works out so well for me since our school colors are Maroon and Gold. What an easy pattern right out of the Originals how-to card book.Remember, today is the last day for you to take advantage of the March Stamp of the Month, "A Little Everything." Drop me a note or give me a call if you want to get one of your own. It is a must-have for any card maker! You can shop online and get it right away (while you are still in your jammies) by clicking on the picture of the Spring Idea book in the column to your left. That will take you right into the shopping area of my website.

Fire, fire!

What a busy day today. First I did my 3 mile walk-I even cut 5 minutes off my time :) Then it was downstairs to cut paper for my Club girls. Then I decided to try out a Zumba class tonight...Wow! I was exhausted, but it was fun and I plan to go back next week.

I came home to find fire all around our place. Don't worry, our fire department was doing some controlled burns. They even came and burned our BIG burn pile. Awesome. Too bad they were basically done by the time I got home from my class-not much left of it. I still had to go out and take a few pictures.
That's when I discovered the beautiful full moon tonight. I love this picture. This little barn cat just wouldn't leave me alone when I was trying to take pictures, so I finally snapped one of him, too.The weather is supposed to continue to be beautiful this week, so I plan to continue putting the miles on my new walking shoes!

Team Meeting

So, yesterday we traveled to Thorp, WI for our team meeting (*waving and telling Kim thanks*). It was a fun day-I love to get together with my scrappin' sista's. There was lots of creating going on! I even showed the girls how to create that little purse that I showed you here.
Here is a couple of shots of everyone busy creating. And one of them with their purses all complete. I love how different they look with different papers. I just wish my camera battery was fully charges as I should have taken photos of them close up-especially Sheri's. What started out as an 'oops' ended up as a really creative invention. She accidentally attached the handle the wrong way, but it looked really neat...made it look like a pair of bib overalls. So she made a second one using the You Rock papers and outdoor denim cardstock. It really did look awesome, but do I have a photo of it? Of course not. She is on the far left in the photos though, maybe if you click on the picture to see it bigger you can see her bib overall 'purse'. I hope Tanner and Kaia liked their creations.

Tyler U Rock

Here is the April Club pages my Club girls are going to be making. It uses the You Rock paper pack.
I wasn't so sure about this paper pack at first...I just didn't know what pictures I would have that would go with it. After sitting and looking at the paper for a while (I was waiting for it to create something on it's own, I guess) it finally hit me. I had these cute pictures of Tyler sitting on my computer just waiting to be scrapped. I saw the camo color and noticed the olive color in the paper pack and the rest just fell into place. I love when that happens!
I stamped the letters in the goldrush ink, rolled them in outdoor denim ink, stamped them on white daisy cardstock and cut them out. That is how you do the 'Rock & Roll' technique...now you know!I love how these pages turned out-maybe because I am a little biased and think Tyler is just a cutie patootie :)

A Paper Purse

Here is my latest creation...a paper purse. I saw these while blog hopping and thought I would make some up for my nieces for their Easter baskets. You can find the pattern here. They really were much easier to make than I was anticipating. I love how they turned out!Just look at the little pocket on the outside. It is the perfect size for holding money or a gift card or something. I used a little magnet to hold the pocket shut. Please post a link or send me a picture if you make any of these little purses. I love to see what others do with a project.

I love that our beautiful Spring weather is here! I have been out walking each day. I've been doing 2 miles in about 30 minutes. Now before you 'in shape' people criticize me, I have not done much of any physical activity since last fall! Well, yesterday I decided to walk to a girlfriend's house to deliver an order for her. Yikes! It was further than I had anticipated (it doesn't seem that far in a car!!) I did it, though! It ended up being a little over a 4 mile walk. Good for me! Once I got up that big hill on the way back, it wasn't bad at all.

How is your activity level? Leave me a comment and let me know what you have been up to.

Happy Birthday, Joe!

No new artwork to post today...was busy with a wonderful gathering yesterday. Chris had a fabulous party and I think her friends had fun, too! Always a plus!
I thought I would share a funny photo with you today. We went out on St. Patrick's Day this year (haven't done that in many years). It so turned out to be worthwhile! Dale ended up winning the 'Best Dressed' award...a stay in Las Vegas!! Whoo Hoo! - well, if he decides to take me as his guest :)Off to celebrate my father-in-law's birthday today. Here is a picture of him and Rhonda on his birthday last year. My how things have changed in a year...

A Little Everything Card

Boy, with it being so nice outside here this last week, I did not get much creating done. I have been outside getting a lot of stuff done, though.

Yesterday it cooled down again (actually, it was typical March-like weather, but we got spoiled for a week with 50-60 degree temperatures) so I got to go downstairs and play again. Today Chris is having a Party at her house and this is the card we will be creating there. (Mom, don't look at the card, I made it for Mother's Day!)This card uses the Veranda paper pack, Colonial White cardstock and ribbon, Creme Brulee cardstock, a button, chocolate waxy flax, a dyed paper flower, and the March Stamp of the Month "A Little Everything" that you can earn for FREE! This stamp set is a great one that we all 'need' (especially for card making). It has so many words and sentiments on it that you can mix and match. You, too, can have a party of your own and earn lots of FREE goodies! Everyone at your party can create a card such as this one. Just contact me (tammyhellstern@myctmh.com) to find out how!

Another Video Tutorial-A File Folder/Notebook Holder

Here is the video I was working on. I guess I have not learned enough yet about You Tube to get it put on there, too. Maybe next time. I am learning so much...don't push me :)

I am just pretty pleased that I was even able to actually get it to post on my blog!!

I guess this is just another reason for me to make yet another video-so that I can continue to practice what I am learning. Please feel free to leave a comment below (or email me) to let me know how I can make videos better for you or what you would like to see.

Now go check out Lynn's blog to see the originals that she taught us. You can easily use the cute patterned file folders so you don't even have to cut all that paper to the folder. Even easier!

File Folder/Notebook Holders

Remember yesterday when I told you I would share what I had planned for my paperback flowers and also remember last weekend when my friend Lynn was here? Well, Lynn showed us how to make these easy file folder/notebook holders. I combined the two to make these...
You start out with one of these plain, boring, ordinary file foldersAnd turn it into thisAren't they great?

I am actually working on a video to show you how to do it. Hopefully I will have it up for tomorrow-maybe even on You Tube if I can figure it out!

Paperback flowers

Yesterday we were out and about in the rain. It was a good day, though. We picked up our new camper. Now we are really excited for summertime to get here so we can start using it. The only trouble is that we have so many summertime hobbies that there never seems to be enough summer for us.Know of anyone looking for a good used camper? If so, let us know as we are looking to sell the old one. It is not new (I think it's a 1987) but it is in really good shape, especially the inside! I can send pictures to anyone interested.

Then, of course, I had to do a little creating after we got home. I made some of these really cool paper flowers that are all the rage right now. I will even give you the step-by-step instructions to make them. First of all, pick out an old book that you can cut apart. I went to the book shelf to find one, but you could also go to the local thrift store to find one cheap. I kind of liked the aged look to the pages in this book. Just look out for some of those 'trashy' novels!Tear some pages out of your book. You are going to use a flower shaped punch. I like to use my punches upside-down so I can see right where I am punching. Watch out for any "naughty" words! Take a light tan or brownish colored ink and ink up your flowers (I used CTMH Bamboo). I also just turned my ink pad upside down and rubbed the ink directly on the flowers. No need to be careful about it, just get them inked a little.Next, use a sponge dauber and ink up the edges in a darker brown color (I used CTMH Chocolate). Again, no need to be real precise. Then stack up about 3 flowers and use a paper piercer to poke a hole in the middle. Attach them together with a brad. Now the fun part...start with the top layer and scrunch it up, then scrunch the middle layer and the bottom layer. Then you just need to un-scrunch the layers a little. There you have it! Easy Peasy! Some of the flowers I made I used the bigger brads and left them as is. Some of them I used the bitty brads and then used a glue dot to add a button to the center of the flower (right on top of the bitty brad).Stay tuned tomorrow to see what I did with these flowers...

An Easter layout

Today I'll show you the layout my Club girls will be making on Sunday.

It is the same pattern as the last layout I showed you, but using different paper. I love how different the same layout can look. Also look at how different it looks just by changing a couple of colors. I love that our patterned paper is so versatile that we can just flip it over and use the other side! How cool is that? They will get to choose which side of the paper they want to use.Happy Scrappin'

Another bright layout

Boy this is really outside my box again...two really bright layouts in a row! It really isn't my style, but I do like them both.

This layout is for a swap I'm in using retired products. Actually, everything except the cardstock is retired, but I still use them for my own scrapbooking. Now just to find some photos to put on the layout.Well, it's off early this morning for us. Have a great day!

A fun weekend

What a great weekend I had! Lots of creating going on around here...but of course, nothing totally finished for me to show you yet. Hopefully later today or tomorrow morning I will be able to do that!

Saturday was a fun day meeting some ladies I did not really know. We did the textured cardstock workshop with the layout and cards I showed you. I had a great day with these ladies and hope to be seeing a lot more of them! They were fabulous! Thank you!

Then Sunday was a day of fun with a couple of my CTMH Sista's...we had planned to do some creating, but of course, I think it was more gabbing and catching up than anything! We did a little tour of my town (ok, that took all of 5 minutes :) Lynn has posted a ton of pictures of our little adventure on her blog. Hop on over there to check it out! Of course, she was the photographer of the day, so she's the one with all the pictures.I did learn a new project from Lynn. Be watching (hopefully this week) for instructions on how to do that. I have to go shopping (oh, I feel so bad about that!?!?) to pick up a few supplies first. Then I will have step-by-step instructions for you to go along with it!

Until later-Happy Scrappin'

Cards using textured cardstock

As promised, here are the cards I designed using our textured cardstock.

On this card, I again sanded the cardstock, allowing the texture to really shine through. Here I decided not to sand it, but rather just to edge distress it. It looks great that way, too! I also love that the textured cardstock has a lighter color on the back side of it. The piece with Thank You stamped on it is actually just the back side of the twilight blue squares.Stamping on textured cardstock is a breeze, too. It does look a little different than on regular cardstock, but looks great! I also added a few drops of liquid glass to this one.
